IV Drips

An IV drip delivers fluids, vitamins and other ingredients directly into a vein over about 30 to 60 minutes while you sit and rest. At our Al Qusais, Dubai clinic, every drip is given in the clinic after a short medical assessment, and our physician, Dr. Keerthana Gopal, decides whether a drip suits you and which formulation to use.

What is in an IV drip?

Our drips are prepared by compounding pharmacies to set formulations. Depending on the drip, they contain B vitamins such as B1, B5 and B6, vitamin C, antioxidants such as glutathione, or NAD+. The doctor explains what is in the drip you are offered and why.

Which drips do we offer?

  • Antioxidant drips (basic, advanced and premium)
  • Face glow drip and the Cinderella drip, chosen by people who want to support their skin
  • NAD+ drips in 100, 250 and 500 mg strengths
  • Vitamin and specialty formulations, chosen with the doctor after the assessment

An IV drip is not a replacement for a balanced diet, medical treatment for an illness, or advice from your own doctor. For skin hydration from the outside in, see skin boosters.

Who should check first?

Drips are not suitable for everyone. Before any drip the doctor asks about heart or kidney conditions, pregnancy and breastfeeding, allergies and the medicines you take. If you feel unwell on the day, tell the team before the drip is started.

What happens during the visit?

  1. A short assessment, including your health history and, where needed, your blood pressure.
  2. A small cannula is placed in a vein in your arm or hand.
  3. You sit comfortably while the drip runs; the team checks on you throughout.
  4. The cannula is removed and a small dressing applied.

When a course is recommended, drips are usually spaced about a week to ten days apart. IV drips start from AED 149 per session for the basic antioxidant drip; see our prices for the others.

Risks and what to expect

What to expect

A drip takes about 30 to 60 minutes, sitting in the clinic, after a short medical assessment. You can usually go back to your day afterwards. A drip is not a treatment for any disease and does not replace a balanced diet.

Possible side effects and risks

  • Discomfort, bruising or a small swelling where the cannula goes in
  • A cool feeling in the arm, a metallic taste or flushing during the drip
  • Light-headedness or feeling faint, less likely if you have eaten beforehand
  • Irritation or inflammation of the vein (phlebitis)
  • Rarely, infection at the drip site or an allergic reaction
  • Not suitable with some heart, kidney or other medical conditions; the doctor checks this first

Results vary from person to person and are not guaranteed. At your consultation your clinician will explain the risks that apply to you, and the alternatives, before you decide.
